A new look

Hi Folks! Would love your thoughts. I’ve been thinking of doing a little color and maybe font re-design for some personal branding.

What do you think? Any preferences?

Cool for Summer

I decided to revisit a couple of designs that I feel have a nice summery feel…. Especially since today is the first day since I’ve arrived on the West Coast that it has A). topped 80 degrees and B). been warm enough for a sundress!

Don’t these just scream summer breezes? I guess maybe the cool green/blue (one of the colors I tend to gravitate towards) adds to the lightness of the design, but also the flags and banners offer a calming summer quality.

Sweet Treats

So i’ve been waiting for my big summer work project to begin….it keeps getting pushed back. I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s been really really nice having a little break from the craziness of NYC and work and life, but i’m also beginning to get a teensy bit restless.
Yesterday I had a craving for something sweet. So I decided to use some of the rhubarb that is growing like CRAZY in our front yard. I grabbed some ingredients and made a very simple, but very delicious rhubarb pie. The pie only consisted of rhubarb, flour, sugar, and a touch of butter.
It was the very first pie i’ve ever baked! It turned out REALLY yummy, but next time i’ll have to work a little more on making it pretty. IMG_0035
Then after baking the pie, my wonderful friend Molly asked me if I could create a quick logo for her. She is working on a project for school (PHD baby, my friends are so good). Anyways I sent her a couple of ideas and we edited down to this. What do you think? mollyfrendo

Hello Chilly…

Since we’ve arrived in Oregon, it’s been a little… well hmmm, a lot chilly for June. Everyone we’ve been talking to says that it’s actually a unseasonably chilly for this time of year. I have yet to wear anything but long pants and long sleeve shirts. I guess maybe I shouldn’t have invested in those sun dresses? Hmmm anyways, it’s actually the PERFECT weather for working out. I have been going on long hilly walks and let me tell you, nothing cools you down like a crisp breeze off the pacific. IMG_0766
Last weekend we also checked out the Astoria Sunday Market. There were tons of local crafts and art, as well as fruits, veggies and TONS of seafood. We picked up some farm fresh eggs. The yolks are SO much more richly colored than store bought eggs.

We made some yummy homemade pizza and a great salad topped with our hardboiled eggs. Delish! IMG_0779

We. Made. It.

Checking in from the west coast! Me, my man, and the mini-van are here in Oregon and all settled into our new little cottage on the sea. We really love it here. Things are going well and it’s been nice to get out and explore a little the last couple of days. I’ve attached some of my favorite images from the trip. I’ll post soon with more details of the travels.

A New Life

So, David and I are moving…. not just from Brooklyn to Manhattan to Queens and back to Brooklyn…..No this time, we’re REALLY moving-moving. We are leaving NYC today, for the wild wild west. We’ve packed our bags and we are off to lovely Oregon. We are so very excited for this grand adventure. We are driving coast to coast and hoping for all sorts of fun things along the way. Wish us luck and I’ll write you on the flip side.

Banners, Pennants, Whimsy & Wishes

One of my favorite things during the wedding planning process was discovering lots of wonderfully whismical wedding and non-wedding blogs. They have become the staples of my morning and a fabulous source of inspiration. One of my favorite trends for the past year has been the lovely banners and pennants featured at so many gorgeous outdoor weddings.
There is nothing, in my mind, more wonderful than a gorgeous outdoor wedding full of lovely colorful decorations and an equally colorful and eccetric crew of family & friends. These pictures (by the wonderful Sara Streit) from my own wedding really capture that feeling for me.Whimsy13937_209370534482_507574482_2903889_3206793_n

Then, today, over on East Side Bride, these lovelies were featured and I elicited a VERY audible *ooohhhhh* from my workspace. OH MY, I could not be having a birthday soon enough… i want!Scout Holiday Necklace

I’ve also recently begun making these cute little banner graphics for friends and family, this one for my nephews nursery…. I think they’re sugary sweet =) I hope to open my etsy site next month and will be selling custom prints! QuinnPrint

The Shipping News

I watched a movie last night called The Shipping News. It came out back in 2001 and features Julianne Moore, Kevin Spacey, and Judi Dench. It was a really wonderful movie and the majority of it takes place in Newfoundland. I loved the colors and feeling of the cold and sea. I don’t know a lot about Newfoundland, but it makes me want to find out more. I love when you can find inspiration in places you least expect… Wouldn’t the colors make a lovely design palette?!shipping

Bowling? Um… Strikeeeee!!!!!

I had the privilege to design a rocking identity system for a crew of really rockin’ ladies (oh, and our friend Mark).
I’m so happy with how they turned out and they make me REALLY wanna make a bowling league so we can start a trading card revolution!
