Sketching

I’ve never really been a big sketcher.. I’ve always been a little embarrassed by the way I draw, even though I’ve gotten much better. I have always been better making the little brainstorming bubbles and sorting out my thoughts that way. Once I started designing on the computer it made MUCH more sense to me to sketch things out on screen… However, as I’ve been sitting here the last few days in my evening *power hour* (that hour after my *day job* & *before my evening relaxation) I’ve found myself completing more hand drawn sketches to start with…. and it’s really been helping me solve spacing issues before I move to the computer. I’ve also been doing other things by hand… like trying to create a real working budget for David & I. There are so many plans we have and we’ve realized we REALLY need to keep track of what the heck we’re spending our money on! So anyways, without further ado… here is a sketch I’ve been working on for a possible future project…

How do you choose to sketch?

Personalized Stationary

So i’ve had the occasion lately to make a couple of pieces of personalized stationary for both myself and other folks. Personalized stationary is a great gift. The best thing about the size i’ve been making [4"W x 9.25"H] is that it fits perfectly inside a business size envelope. It’s been really fun to make it and personalize based on individual style and color taste.

The Afterglow…

I am now officially married! It is really hard to believe that the whole process came and went so quickly. We had such a wonderful wedding weekend, full of AMAZING friends, family, & WONDERFUL weather. Of course there were a few little hiccups along the way, but in the end, things came together and went swimmingly. In the process however, i LITERALLY didn’t sleep for 3 days straight. I was so nervous, and excited and crazy that I just kept playing my vision of the weekend over and over and over again in my little noggin. We had such a great team of folks that came together, saw the MANY tasks at hand, and proceeded beautifully to make David and I feel like a couple of really loved folks. h5

The honeymoon to Costa Rica was equally as incredible. I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else in the world to share it with… (good thing i married him eh?) We also were lucky enough to meet a really rad couple who also got married 9.19.09 and we had a wonderful time getting to know them as well.

So to each and every person, whose love and support we felt with our whole hearts over the last couple of weeks… THANK YOU….. You rock more than you could ever, ever know!

The Calm Before the Storm.

So, David and I are heading to Ohio for Labor Day weekend. We’re going to head up to the lake with my parents to the campground. Then my ladies miss Molly and Sarah are heading down from Michigan to do a little camping, maybe a little winery-ing, and hopefully a LOT of relaxing… I am so ready..This will be the last little bit of calm before the wedding chaos begins..

Enjoy your weekend! Sit by a campfire and think of all the cool things about to happen… yah!

New Work… Wedding Madness

So I had the pleasure of working with a great friend (& one of my very own bridesmaids) on her upcoming weddings invites and postcards. Miss Bridie and her future husband Bill are the IDEAL client… open to suggestions, easy-going, and über-appreciative! They gave me a few cues and I went running. It was so much fun creating these invites for them… and I must say it’s SO much easier to work on a wedding when it’s not your own! Enjoy… Can’t wait to see this fabulous couple at my upcoming wedding and then *hopefully* at theirs if I can EVER find an affordable ticket back to Michigan! Congrats again Bridie and Bill!bridiepostcard

Fall is in the air…… yummmm

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. It has been ever since I was a little girl. I can picture the leaf castles in the yard and hear the sound they made when I would jump in them with the dog. Today was a lovely little glimpse of the season to come. I don’t think it broke 70 degrees and the humidity was low. I didn’t break a sweat in my wrap sweater and jean skirt… and THAT my friends makes me a very very happy camper.

I saw these gallon jugs of tabasco over at dieline

I thought they seemed quite fall-ish. Why you need that much tabasco is really beyond me… but I kinda want them to decorate my kitchen! Saucy!

Inspiration for the Wedding…

WOW…. we are now at 25.. that’s right TWENTY FIVE days til the wedding… it’s really hard to believe. We’ve been engaged for a little over 7 months and it’s literally just flown by. I have to say, it’s not easy planning a wedding from afar… There are a million little things we need to do once we hit the two week mark. Meanwhile my job is at it’s busiest time of the year… so there are late nights… So all that said, is it bad that i’m not worried? That if people miss the ferry and can’t make it to the island, well, what can I do ? It’s CRAZY that it’s 25 days and there are still RSVPs I haven’t received and don’t know final anything’s… and i’ve really just gotten to a point where I *can’t* worry, or i’ll lose my mind… ha… Do all bride-to-be’s get to that point? I mean we’ve REALLY tried to keep things organized. We’ve sent folks all they need… but i’d also be lying if I said that I hadn’t “lost an invite” or two here and there in the past… I guess you just have to let go, and let whatever is going to happen, happen… good, bad, and in-between… Along the way i’ve found some fabulous blogs that have helped me to keep a fair amount of sanity… Check them out if you are planning a wedding, or might be planning a wedding…they are great resources and *some* are as cynical as me.

*now don’t get me wrong… it’s been a super fun process to plan… and David thinks I won’t know what to do with myself once the wedding is over, but enough is enough! LET’S GET MARRIED ALREADY*
