Sketching

I’ve never really been a big sketcher.. I’ve always been a little embarrassed by the way I draw, even though I’ve gotten much better. I have always been better making the little brainstorming bubbles and sorting out my thoughts that way. Once I started designing on the computer it made MUCH more sense to me to sketch things out on screen… However, as I’ve been sitting here the last few days in my evening *power hour* (that hour after my *day job* & *before my evening relaxation) I’ve found myself completing more hand drawn sketches to start with…. and it’s really been helping me solve spacing issues before I move to the computer. I’ve also been doing other things by hand… like trying to create a real working budget for David & I. There are so many plans we have and we’ve realized we REALLY need to keep track of what the heck we’re spending our money on! So anyways, without further ado… here is a sketch I’ve been working on for a possible future project…

How do you choose to sketch?

this is so true… i always work straight on screen and have to stop myself from time to time and work things on paper first.

I love this miss! Great job. As for me, I tend to start with sketches, but sometimes I have problems with sketching proportionately. I have to work on that so that I can more easily translate when I get to the computer. It really does help with spacing though. I also tend to half work, half sketch. If I’m stuck on a design I’ve already started on the computer, I might print a few minis and sketch over them, it’s quicker than doing it on the computer sometimes. :)
